Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut, the acclaimed actress and director, has once again raised a storm with her comments about the Bollywood industry. While promoting her upcoming film Emergency, Ranaut described the film industry as “hopeless” and accused it of undermining and boycotting talented individuals.

In an interview with Mashable India, Kangana Ranaut expressed her discontent with the film industry, alleging that it is riddled with jealousy and malice. She stated, “Bollywood is, honestly, a very hopeless place. Nothing is going to happen with them. They are jealous of talent. Anyone they see as talented, they either finish them off, ruin their career, or boycott them. They do such dirty PR to defame them.” Ranaut’s comments underscore her long-standing critique of the industry’s internal dynamics and the challenges faced by those who stand out.

Kangana also defended her position by contrasting her experience with the love and support she claims to have received from the industry. “Only a few people have a problem with me, otherwise, if you see me, I won an election and the kind of love that I receive from the industry proves my point. So the problem is me or with them?” she questioned.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, which she has both directed and produced, stars Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik. The film has stirred controversy, with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Akhal Takht calling for an immediate ban. They have alleged that the film attempts to “character assassinate” Sikhs, adding to the film’s complex release journey.

Initially postponed several times due to the controversy, Emergency is now scheduled to be released on September 6, 2024. The film’s contentious subject matter has attracted significant attention, further amplifying the debate surrounding its portrayal of historical and political themes.

Kangana Ranaut’s statements reflect her ongoing battle with Bollywood’s perceived politics and the industry’s response to her unconventional career choices and outspoken nature. Despite facing criticism and professional setbacks, Ranaut remains a polarizing figure in Indian cinema, known for her unfiltered opinions and bold moves.

As Emergency approaches its release date, the film’s controversies and Ranaut’s remarks continue to fuel discussions about Bollywood’s internal politics and the broader implications for those working within the industry.
