Chennai : In his latest single, “Killer Killer,” featuring Captain Miller, Tamil superstar Dhanush is channeling his inner demon. The song, which is a no-holds-barred marching type anthemic song, exudes a true hardcore attitude.
The actor sings the song, much of which is spoken word. He sings it in English for the first half of it, then mixes it in Tamil before moving on to singing. Although the majority of the song is silent, there is a loud climax as Dhanush’s “killer” persona gradually enters the stage.
The actor does appear to have fully embraced the role, as seen by the fact that he sings some of the character’s vocals with style and intelligence and a lot of aggressiveness.
Accompanied by a whole orchestra of instruments ranging from synthesisers, guitars, drums, bass, saxophones, this song is just a power-packed anthem that produces pure, unadulterated adrenaline.
Composed and produced by music composer G.V Prakash Kumar, ‘Killer Killer’ is very similar in tone to the ‘Leo’ song ‘Bada**’, and indeed carries over the same feeling.
The song blends several genres such as industrial music, spoken word, hard rock, marching anthem, and more, rather than simply a rap-metal hybrid.
The production is extremely well-done; there isn’t even a hint of over-production, and everything is kept incredibly clear, intense, and focused.
“Captain Miller,” a G.V. Prakash Kumar musical directed, co-written, and co-produced by Arun Matheswaran, features an ensemble cast that includes Dhanush, Nassar, Dr. Shivarajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Arun Mohan, John Kokken, and others. The film is aiming for a 2024 Pongal release date.
