Celebrity chef Harpal Singh Sokhi has shared a heartwarming account of filmmaker Farah Khan’s visit to his home, recalling how her humility, warmth and genuine appreciation left a lasting impression on his family.
‘I want to shoot exactly as your house is’
Speaking to Hindi Rush, Sokhi said Farah Khan had insisted on shooting at his residence without altering anything. “She told me, ‘I only want to shoot in your house and the way it is,’” he recalled, expressing admiration for her simplicity.
The chef shared that while he prepared some dishes, it was his wife, Aparna, who cooked several items for Farah. What stood out most, he said, was how wholeheartedly she enjoyed the food. “Woh saari cheezein unhone haath se khaayi. Chamach se nahi,” Sokhi said, adding that she happily accepted multiple servings without hesitation.
Food shared with family
Sokhi further revealed that Farah even packed food she liked for her children. Among the dishes was green tomato butter chicken, which she later praised. “She messaged me at 10 at night saying how much her kids loved it and that it was the first time they were asking for more,” he said.
Touched by the experience, Sokhi added that Farah asked him to send food whenever he cooked something special, turning a professional interaction into a warm personal bond.
The power of appreciation
Reflecting on the incident, psychotherapist and life coach Delnna Rrajesh said such moments highlight the healing power of genuine appreciation. She noted that appreciation goes beyond politeness, creating emotional intimacy and making people feel truly valued.
“When effort is noticed and presence acknowledged, the nervous system relaxes. A single moment of genuine appreciation can dissolve weeks of emotional fatigue,” she told indianexpress.com.
A simple gesture, lasting impact
The exchange between Chef Harpal and Farah Khan has resonated online as a reminder that sincerity, gratitude and shared meals can forge meaningful connections — proving that sometimes, the most powerful gestures are the simplest ones.
