New Delhi: Actor Dulquer Salmaan, renowned for his remarkable performances and successful films, shared that his ultimate source of inspiration in the industry is his father, the legendary Mammootty. Despite this, he disclosed that he would never consider remaking any of his father’s movies.
Originally working as a business manager in a Dubai construction company, Dulquer’s passion for cinema and acting led him to follow in his father’s footsteps.
In a live session on Roposo, a creator-driven live platform, Dulquer discussed his biggest inspiration, stating, “My father, Mammootty, is my greatest inspiration in the film industry.” He acknowledged his father’s support when he decided to shift from business management to acting.
However, when asked about his willingness to work in remakes of his father’s films, he surprised everyone by expressing his aversion to remakes. In a time where remakes are prevalent, he voiced, “None! I don’t believe in remakes actually. I feel that classics should be left untouched. In fact, music, as well as movies, shouldn’t be remade.”
Additionally, he touched upon his upcoming series ‘Guns & Gulaabs,’ shared a fan-boy moment with Deepika Padukone, and revealed how he celebrates Valentine’s Day with his family during the live session on Roposo.
‘Guns & Gulaabs’ captures ‘firsts’ within the backdrop of the unpredictable town Gulaabganj during the early ’90s. The series pays homage to the nineties’ Bollywood era, embracing its unique charm.
Dulquer’s forthcoming project, Raj & DK’s ‘Guns & Gulaabs,’ is an action-packed tale of comedic power struggles and revenge plots. Set for release on August 18 on Netflix, the series features a love-struck mechanic, a reluctant heir to a ruling gang, and a once-honest officer now embracing chaos.
He is also slated to star in the action-thriller ‘King of Kotha,’ marking Abhilash Joshiy’s directorial debut. The film features an ensemble cast and is anticipated to be a compelling addition to Dulquer’s repertoire.
