Mumbai: Mumbai filmmaker Shobu Yarlagadda has praised Dhurandhar: The Revenge as it continues its remarkable run at the global box office, particularly in North America where it has created history.

The Ranveer Singh-starrer, directed by Aditya Dhar, has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film in North America, collecting approximately $22.01 million (around ₹183 crore) within just 10 days of its release on March 19.

Surpasses Baahubali 2 after nine years

The film’s latest milestone comes after a strong Day 10 performance, where it earned an estimated $2.6 million. With this, it has overtaken Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which had held the record for nearly nine years with around $22 million in the region.

It has also surpassed its predecessor Dhurandhar, which had collected approximately $20.65 million in North America.

This achievement marks a significant shift in overseas box office trends, with Dhurandhar: The Revenge now occupying the top position among Indian films in the region.

Beats major Indian hits overseas

During its record-breaking run, the film also outperformed several other major Indian releases. It crossed the collections of Kalki 2898 AD ($18.57 million) and Pathaan ($17.49 million) earlier, before going on to claim the top spot.

Trade analysts note that the film’s strong word-of-mouth, high production value, and global appeal have contributed to its consistent performance in international markets.

Industry reaction and appreciation

Shobu Yarlagadda, known for backing blockbuster projects like Baahubali 2, shared his appreciation after watching the film. He praised the team for delivering an engaging cinematic experience and congratulated them on setting new box office benchmarks both in India and overseas.

His endorsement is seen as significant within the industry, given his association with one of India’s biggest film franchises.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge is an espionage action thriller centred around a top Indian intelligence officer tasked with stopping a global conspiracy threatening national security.

Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles, along with supporting performances by Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
