Chandigarh: A production designer associated with Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has reportedly been booked by Chandigarh Police following allegations of sexual harassment, physical assault and wrongful confinement made by a woman from New Delhi.

The accused, identified as Saini S Johray, is facing investigation after an FIR was registered at Sector 17 police station in Chandigarh based on the complainant’s written statement.

Woman alleges harassment at hotel meeting

According to the complaint, the woman alleged that Johray invited her to a room at a hotel in Chandigarh under the pretext of a professional discussion related to the film project.

She stated that she believed it would be a team meeting but later discovered that no other crew members had been invited.

The complainant further alleged that the production designer instructed her not to inform others about the meeting, claiming it could affect her reputation in the film industry.

Allegations of intoxication and assault

The woman claimed that the accused pressured her to consume alcohol and allegedly mixed substances into the drink, after which she began feeling dizzy and physically unwell.

According to the complaint, she repeatedly requested to leave the room but was allegedly prevented from doing so.

She further alleged that the accused attempted inappropriate physical contact while offering to teach her dance and later forced her onto a bed while pressuring her to stay overnight.

The complainant stated that she remained in severe mental distress during the incident and managed to leave the hotel only the following morning.

FIR registered under multiple BNS sections

Police said the woman submitted a written complaint at the Sector 17 police station on April 20, following which a preliminary inquiry was conducted.

Based on the findings, Chandigarh Police registered a case under Sections 74, 79, 123 and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which relate to offences including assault, harassment and wrongful confinement.

Officials said the accused has obtained bail while the investigation continues.

Complainant says harassment continued later

The woman also alleged that she continued to face harassment after filing the complaint, which further affected her mental well-being.

Police officials stated that the matter remains under investigation and further legal proceedings are underway.

Production designer linked to large-scale film set work

Saini S Johray had reportedly gained attention for designing large-scale film sets, including a recreation of Pakistan’s Lyari Town in Thailand for Dhurandhar.

According to the complainant, she had joined the project as an assistant art director in September 2025 after her resume was forwarded by a faculty member from her college.

The case has drawn attention within the entertainment industry due to the serious nature of the allegations and the involvement of a high-profile film production.

No official statement has yet been issued by the film’s makers or actor Ranveer Singh regarding the matter.
