Mumbai: Actor Disha Patani has opened up about her journey to Hollywood, saying that securing international film projects involves much more than talent alone. As she gears up for her Hollywood debut in Holiguards Saga – The Portal of Force, the actor said aspiring performers must be physically present abroad, have the right representation and clear multiple practical hurdles before landing a role.

In an interview with Variety India, Disha explained that many people assume actors can secure Hollywood projects while staying in India, but the reality is far more complex.

‘You can’t sit here and crack roles’

Speaking about the casting process, Disha said accessibility plays a crucial role in getting noticed by international filmmakers.

“A lot depends on accessibility. The West focuses heavily on audition templates. You have to audition for things. It depends on how accessible that is for you and who you are signed with,” she said.

According to the actor, representation by the right talent agency, previous work experience and even timing or luck can significantly influence an actor’s chances of being considered for international projects.

She added that visa requirements and other logistical factors also play an important role in the casting process.

Highlighting the importance of relocating, at least temporarily, Disha said actors hoping to work in Hollywood should spend time overseas rather than expecting opportunities to come to them.

“It is a different country at the end of the day. But you will have to be present. You can’t sit here and crack roles there,” she said.

While acknowledging that auditions can often be submitted remotely, Disha noted that staying abroad improves an actor’s visibility and chances of securing work.

Expanding international presence
