Kochi: Nearly two months after its theatrical release, Dulquer Salmaan‘s Malayalam film I’m Game is set for its digital premiere. The revenge thriller will begin streaming on JioHotstar from November 6 in five languages — Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, the film arrived in theatres amid considerable expectations, marking Dulquer’s first Malayalam release in nearly three years. However, it received mixed reviews from critics and audiences and failed to make a significant impact at the box office.
Revenge thriller set against gambling and cricket betting
I’m Game is set against the backdrop of gambling and cricket betting. The story, written by director Nahas Hidhayath, follows a gambler whose life takes an unexpected turn after a car accident.
Antony Varghese Pepe plays a prominent role as a professional cricketer. The film also features Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Mysskin, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinay Forrt, Jayasudha and Shyamaprasad, among others.
The screenplay was written by Sajeer Baba, Bilal Moidu and Ismail Aboobacker.
Mixed response to theatrical release
While the film’s supernatural elements attracted appreciation from some viewers, its shift towards a conventional revenge narrative drew criticism. The overall response remained divided, and the film could not achieve the expected box-office performance.
Dulquer, who also produced the film, took responsibility for its underwhelming theatrical run. Responding to the criticism, he said, “If you want to blame someone, you can blame me.”
Dulquer’s upcoming projects
Dulquer Salmaan is yet to officially announce his next Malayalam film. Meanwhile, he is preparing for the release of his Telugu project Aakasamlo Oka Tara, scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 20.
With its JioHotstar premiere, I’m Game will now reach audiences across multiple languages, giving viewers who missed its theatrical release an opportunity to watch the film.
