A first information report (FIR) has been lodged against Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and two of his associates in Bikaner, Rajasthan, following allegations of fraud, misbehaviour, and breach of trust linked to his upcoming film Love & War, news agency PTI reported citing police sources.

The complaint was filed by Prateek Raj Mathur, who alleged that he had been assigned a contract as a line producer for the film. Mathur claimed that after fulfilling responsibilities and making necessary arrangements for the shoot—including coordinating with government departments—he was abruptly removed from the project without payment. He also alleged that when he approached the film team at a hotel, Bhansali and his associates misbehaved with him.

FIR and Investigation

Circle Officer (Bikaner Sadar) Vishal Jangid confirmed that the FIR has been registered under charges of fraud, criminal conspiracy, and criminal intimidation against Bhansali and the film’s producers Arvind Gill and Utkarsh Bali at Bichhwal police station on Monday, following a court order.

Bichhwal SHO Govind Singh Charan is actively investigating the case. Officials stated that the FIR addresses allegations of financial misconduct and professional misbehaviour connected to contractual obligations.

About the Film: Love & War

Bhansali’s Love & War is billed as an epic cinematic saga, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. The story revolves around two Indian Air Force pilots, played by Ranbir and Vicky. The film has been under production in Rajasthan for most of the year.

In July, the production team reportedly prepared for an expensive climactic sequence involving the two male leads, described by sources as one of Indian cinema’s grandest action sequences. The film is currently slated for a theatrical release on March 20, 2026.

Conclusion

The FIR against Bhansali and his associates highlights the ongoing legal and professional disputes that can arise during large-scale film productions. Authorities continue to investigate the allegations of financial fraud and misbehaviour, which may have broader implications for the production team and contractual agreements in the Indian film industry.
