MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was targeted in a shooting incident in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18, when three unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly opened fire at his car. The actor escaped without serious injury, while his driver and a passerby were injured in the incident.
The shooting took place around 7 pm near Pushpa Park, also known as Jamnabai Nursery, as Shroff was leaving after playing football. The incident triggered a police investigation, with officers examining CCTV footage, videos of the shooting and other evidence to identify the assailants and establish their motive.
Three men arrive on a motorcycle
According to preliminary reports, three men arrived at the location on a motorcycle. Two allegedly opened fire at the actor’s vehicle while the third appeared to be waiting to facilitate their escape.
The number of shots reported has varied across media accounts, with some reports citing four or five rounds and others reporting seven. Videos circulating online appear to show the attackers firing at the vehicle before fleeing on the motorcycle.

Shroff was reportedly seated in the car when the firing occurred. Videos recorded after the incident show confusion around the vehicle, with the actor appearing to move into the driver’s seat and drive away.
Driver and bystander sustain injuries
Although Shroff escaped serious harm, his driver, identified in media reports as Firdos or Firdaus, sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand. He was taken to Nanavati Hospital for treatment and was reported to require further medical care.
A nearby man, identified in reports as Umesh Chavan, also sustained a bullet injury to the chest and was taken to Cooper Hospital. Initial reports described his condition as stable.
Shroff was taken for medical attention and subsequently reported to be safe. Reports differ on whether he sustained minor abrasions, but there was no indication that he suffered a serious gunshot injury.
Police form teams to identify attackers
Mumbai Police have launched an investigation into the firing. Officers are examining CCTV recordings, available video footage and forensic evidence collected from the scene.
Police have formed multiple teams to trace the assailants and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. One person was reportedly detained for questioning in the Santacruz area. The detention does not establish that the person was involved in the shooting.
Investigators are working to identify the men seen in the footage, trace their movements and determine whether the attack was planned. The motive has not been conclusively established.
Alleged Lawrence Bishnoi gang link under investigation
The incident drew further attention after social media posts and an audio message attributed to individuals allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack. The claims reportedly referred to Shroff’s association with actor Salman Khan.
However, Mumbai Police had not confirmed the authenticity of the claims or established the gang’s involvement in the shooting in the reports available at the time of publication. The alleged connection remains under investigation and should not be treated as a confirmed finding.
The police are expected to examine the claims alongside other evidence before determining whether the attack was connected to an organised criminal network or had another motive.
Political leaders react to the incident
The shooting prompted reactions from Maharashtra government representatives and Opposition leaders. State leaders condemned the incident and said the police would take action against those responsible.
