Bareilly: Multiple rounds of gunfire were reported outside Bollywood actress Disha Patani’s house in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area on Friday morning. Authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
Early morning shooting
Police stated that the incident occurred around 4:30 am, when two unidentified assailants on a bike opened fire outside the actress’s residence. Several rounds were fired, including two rounds of aerial firing.
The incident is believed to be linked to remarks made against Hindu saint Premanand Maharaj, according to preliminary reports.
Suspects claim responsibility
The Dhelana brothers, Virendra and Mahendra, allegedly took responsibility in a purported social media post. The post warned the film industry against disrespecting their revered saints and stated:
“This was just a trailer. Next time, if she or anyone else shows disrespect towards our religion, then no one in their house will be left alive.”
The authenticity of the post has not been verified, and Bareilly police are investigating the matter.
Police response
The actress’s father, Jagdish Patani, filed a complaint, and police are in the process of registering an FIR. Five special teams have been formed by the SSP to track down the perpetrators. Security around Disha Patani’s residence has been significantly increased.
Authorities are urging the public not to speculate and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the actress’s safety and apprehend the assailants.
