Universal Studios, the iconic Hollywood entertainment brand, is set to make its India debut with a massive theme park near Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, bringing with it world-class rides, cinematic attractions, and a cultural leap for Indian leisure tourism. Already a global name with parks in the U.S., Japan, Singapore, and China, Universal Studios is now eyeing India’s growing entertainment and tourism market.
The proposed park will occupy 300,000 sq ft of Bharti Enterprises’ upcoming 3-million-square-foot retail development, expected to open by mid-2027. “We have reserved 10% of the total leasable area for a global entertainment park,” confirmed SK Sayal, CEO of Bharti Real Estate, to The Economic Times.
Once operational, the entire project is anticipated to generate over ₹5,000 crore in annual rental income, backed by ₹6,595 crore in investment and over 6.5 million sq ft of development.
More than just a tourism hotspot, Universal Studios India could become a symbol of cultural fusion between Hollywood and Bollywood, unlocking new possibilities in entertainment, creative collaboration, and experiential storytelling. The park is expected to include fan-favorite themed zones, potentially featuring attractions inspired by franchises like Harry Potter, Jurassic World, and Despicable Me.
While Universal Studios has yet to officially confirm its India plans, the buzz is real — and so is the excitement among movie lovers and thrill-seekers.
