Actor Hrithik Roshan has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic collapse of a slab from the under-construction Mumbai Metro Line 4 bridge, which claimed one life and left three others injured.
Taking to Instagram Stories, the actor reposted a video about the incident and shared his condolences. “Heartbreaking and traumatic. My condolences to the family of the deceased and prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured,” he wrote.
Call for stronger safety measures
Hrithik commended the swift response from authorities but emphasised the urgent need for stricter safety checks. “I commend the swift action taken by the authorities to ensure accountability, but the need for safety checks and prevention of such accidents is a priority, especially with all the development work going on across Mumbai, on the busiest streets,” he added.
He further stressed that the safety of construction workers and the general public must remain paramount, urging strict enforcement of guidelines and protocols to prevent similar incidents.
Details of the incident
The accident occurred in Mulund when a parapet slab from the under-construction Metro Rail Line 4 bridge collapsed onto vehicles passing below. Following the incident, five employees of two contractor companies were arrested. An FIR has been registered under Section 105 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the deceased.
