Chennai: Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed the Rs 400-crore net mark at the Indian box office within 12 days of its theatrical release, despite recording a sharp decline in collections on its second Monday. The Tamil action entertainer collected Rs 9.45 crore net in India on Day 12, taking its total domestic net collection to Rs 408.15 crore, according to Sacnilk estimates.

The film’s India gross collection has reached Rs 477.85 crore, while its worldwide gross stands at Rs 733.35 crore. Overseas markets contributed Rs 2.50 crore on Monday, taking the film’s cumulative overseas gross to Rs 255.50 crore.

Although the latest daily figures indicate a slowdown after the strong opening and weekend collections, Jailer 2 has continued to add to its overall earnings. Its performance across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada markets has helped the Rajinikanth-starrer maintain a substantial presence at the box office.

Jailer 2 Day 12 box office collection

Jailer 2 earned Rs 9.45 crore net in India on its 12th day across an estimated 10,450 shows. The collection represented a 63.2% decline compared with the previous day, reflecting the usual weekday slowdown following a weekend.

Despite the drop, the film’s cumulative domestic earnings have crossed a significant milestone. Its India net collection now stands at Rs 408.15 crore, while the gross collection has reached Rs 477.85 crore.

The film also recorded an estimated 7,14,175 admissions on Day 12. Its total reported footfalls have crossed 2.71 crore, indicating the scale of audience turnout during its theatrical run.

The worldwide gross of Rs 733.35 crore includes the domestic and overseas markets. With international collections contributing Rs 255.50 crore, overseas earnings continue to account for a substantial share of the film’s total revenue.

The next few days will be important in determining how well the film sustains its collections after the second weekend.

Language-wise collection on Day 12

The Tamil version remained the biggest contributor to Jailer 2’s domestic net earnings on Monday, followed by the Telugu and Hindi versions.

The reported language-wise collections were:

  • Tamil: Rs 5.65 crore
  • Telugu: Rs 2 crore
  • Hindi: Rs 1.40 crore
  • Kannada: Rs 40 lakh

The Tamil version contributed the majority of the film’s Day 12 net collection. The Telugu and Hindi versions also added to the total, while the Kannada release provided an additional contribution.

The film’s multilingual release has allowed it to reach audiences beyond its core Tamil-speaking market. Its performance across these versions will remain important as it moves deeper into its theatrical run.

Tamil Nadu leads state-wise gross earnings

Tamil Nadu remained the largest contributor to Jailer 2’s tracked state-wise gross collection on Day 12.

The reported regional figures were:

  • Tamil Nadu: Rs 4 crore
  • Karnataka: Rs 2.35 crore
  • Andhra Pradesh and Telangana: Rs 1.90 crore
  • Kerala: Rs 1.25 crore
  • Other regions: Rs 1.50 crore

The combined tracked state-wise gross collection for Monday stood at approximately Rs 11 crore.

Tamil Nadu’s contribution reflects the film’s strong connection with Rajinikanth’s home audience, while Karnataka and the Telugu-speaking states have also remained important markets. Kerala and other regions added to the overall domestic performance.

These regional figures refer to gross collections, whereas the language-wise figures above refer to net collections. The two sets of numbers therefore measure different aspects of the film’s box-office performance.

Jailer 2 day-wise box office collection

The film opened strongly on its first day and maintained substantial collections through its opening weekend. Its daily earnings subsequently declined during the first week before showing a further rise over the second weekend.

The reported India net collections are as follows:

DayIndia net collection

Day 2Rs 37.10 crore
Day 3Rs 47.25 crore
Day 4Rs 55.85 crore

Day 10Rs 24.15 crore
Day 11Rs 25.70 crore
Day 12Rs 9.45 crore

The figures show that Jailer 2 recorded its strongest daily collections during its opening phase. The first weekend and the following weekdays contributed to a first-week net total of Rs 334.35 crore.

Collections dipped on Day 8 and Day 9 before recovering over the second weekend. The Rs 24.15-crore collection on Day 10 and Rs 25.70 crore on Day 11 provided a boost before Monday’s decline.

With its cumulative India net collection now at Rs 408.15 crore, the film has moved beyond the Rs 400-crore milestone in less than two weeks.

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 continues the story of retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, played by Rajinikanth.

The plot centres on Tiger’s attempt to protect his family and investigate an international idol-smuggling network. His peaceful life is disrupted by the criminal operation, prompting him to go undercover as a driver to uncover the people behind it.

The combination of action, crime and family drama forms the core of the film’s narrative. Rajinikanth’s return as Tiger is also a key part of the film’s appeal, bringing back a character associated with the franchise’s earlier success.

The cast includes S.J. Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan and Jackie Shroff appear in special roles.

The ensemble brings together performers from several Indian film industries, complementing the film’s release across multiple languages.

Nelson Dilipkumar directs the action entertainer

Jailer 2 is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, while Vijay Kartik Kannan has handled cinematography.

The film was released in theatres on October 15, 2026, in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Telugu. Its runtime is approximately two hours and 45 minutes.

The creative team reunites Rajinikanth with director Nelson Dilipkumar for another action-driven story built around Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The film’s international idol-smuggling storyline and ensemble cast also expand the scale of the narrative.

Its multilingual release has helped it reach a broader theatrical audience, with domestic and overseas markets contributing to its reported worldwide gross.

Can Jailer 2 sustain its box-office momentum?

Crossing Rs 400 crore net in India is a major milestone for Jailer 2, but the second Monday’s decline suggests that its daily earnings are becoming more dependent on how audiences respond after the opening phase.

The film’s second-weekend recovery offered a boost, with collections rising on Days 10 and 11. Monday’s Rs 9.45-crore net collection, however, was considerably lower than the previous day’s figure.

Its worldwide gross of Rs 733.35 crore provides a broader picture of its theatrical performance, with overseas markets accounting for Rs 255.50 crore. The film’s subsequent trajectory will depend on weekday hold, weekend footfalls and competition from other releases.

Trade estimates can also change as figures are updated. The current totals should therefore be treated as reported estimates rather than final audited collections.

Jailer 2 crosses another major milestone

With Rs 408.15 crore in India net earnings and a worldwide gross of Rs 733.35 crore, Jailer 2 has continued to build its box-office total despite the second Monday slowdown.

Tamil audiences remain the film’s largest domestic base, while its Telugu, Hindi and Kannada versions have contributed to its overall performance. The strong opening-week collections and second-weekend recovery have helped the Rajinikanth-starrer cross the Rs 400-crore India net mark within 12 days.

The coming days will show whether the film can maintain its pace and move closer to further box-office milestones.
