Mumbai: Kapil Sharma is set to return to Netflix with the fifth season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, with the cast of Drishyam: The Conclusion joining him for the premiere episode.
The new season will begin streaming on September 26, with new episodes releasing every Saturday at 8 pm.
The season premiere will feature Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Jaideep Ahlawat, along with director Abhishek Pathak. The cast will join Kapil Sharma for an evening of comedy, conversations and entertainment.
Ajay Devgn returns to Kapil’s show
The upcoming episode marks Ajay Devgn’s return to Kapil Sharma’s comedy show as he prepares for the theatrical release of Drishyam: The Conclusion, the third and final instalment of the Hindi Drishyam franchise.
Devgn will once again be seen as Vijay Salgaonkar in the film, which is directed by Abhishek Pathak.
The premiere episode will bring together several members of the film’s cast, giving viewers an opportunity to see the actors in a lighter setting ahead of the movie’s theatrical release.
Jaideep Ahlawat will also participate in the entertainment during the episode. He will be seen dancing with Sona and Mona 2.0, the revived comedy duo of Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda.
Sunil Grover will add to the comic moments with his imitation of Ajay Devgn.
Season 5 returns after six-month break
The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 arrives after a six-month break.
Kapil Sharma will once again lead the comedy ensemble, which includes Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
The show will follow a weekly release format, with new episodes streaming every Saturday at 8 pm on Netflix.
The return of the show comes at a time when several major Hindi film releases are lined up, with the Drishyam: The Conclusion cast getting the first opportunity to promote their upcoming theatrical release through the comedy series.
Drishyam: The Conclusion set for October release
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is returning as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam: The Conclusion. The film also stars Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 2, 2026.
The third instalment has generated interest among fans of the Hindi Drishyam franchise, particularly because it is taking a different narrative route from the Malayalam Drishyam 3, which stars Mohanlal.
Hindi and Malayalam films follow different stories
At the trailer launch held in Goa on September 9, director Abhishek Pathak clarified that the Hindi film is based on a different script.
According to Pathak, the story was developed over approximately two-and-a-half years and does not follow the storyline of the Malayalam third instalment.
This distinction has added another point of interest for audiences familiar with both versions of the franchise.
With the Drishyam: The Conclusion cast opening the fifth season, The Great Indian Kapil Show will combine film promotion with its established comedy format when it returns to Netflix on September 26.
