Mumbai: Speculation around Kareena Kapoor Khan joining Salman Khan in Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s upcoming superhero film has been dismissed, with fresh reports confirming that the actress has not been approached for the project so far. The clarification comes amid growing buzz around the high-profile collaboration between Salman Khan and the popular director duo.
Salman Khan’s upcoming slate of films continues to generate strong interest among fans, particularly his collaboration with Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, collectively known as Raj-DK. The project, reportedly a large-scale superhero film, has already created excitement due to its unique concept and Salman’s never-seen-before avatar as a retired superhero.
Recently, several media reports suggested that Kareena Kapoor Khan had been finalised as the female lead opposite Salman Khan. However, industry sources have now clarified that these claims are inaccurate.
Kareena Kapoor not in talks for the project
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Kareena Kapoor Khan has neither been approached nor had any discussions with the makers regarding the film. The source further clarified that she has not met Raj Nidimoru, Krishna DK, or Salman Khan for the project.
The insider revealed that the script is still under development and casting has not officially begun. The casting process is expected to start only by the end of June 2026.
At present, Salman Khan is the only confirmed lead in the film. No decision has been taken yet regarding the female lead, and discussions are still at a preliminary stage.
Reports also suggest that the filmmakers may consider casting a younger actress, as the storyline reportedly features a different dynamic between the lead characters compared to conventional commercial Bollywood films.
Salman and Kareena have previously worked together in popular films such as Kyon Ki, Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, and Bodyguard, which made the rumours of their reunion particularly exciting for fans. However, the current reports confirm that there is no truth to Kareena being part of the project at this stage.
Salman Khan to play retired superhero
The yet-to-be-titled film marks a fresh creative direction for Salman Khan, who is expected to portray a retired superhero. The concept is being developed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, who are known for their distinctive storytelling in projects like The Family Man, Farzi, Guns & Gulaabs, and Citadel: Honey Bunny.
The director duo is currently focused on completing work on the next season of Farzi, after which they are expected to shift attention fully to the superhero project. Initial narration sessions for the film are likely to take place in June 2026, while the script is still undergoing development.
The project is being positioned as a large-scale action entertainer with heavy visual effects. International VFX studio Weta FX, known for its work on global projects such as The Avengers, The Batman, and The Last of Us, has reportedly been roped in to handle the film’s visual effects.
Casting process expected to begin soon
Industry reports indicate that the casting process for the female lead and other supporting characters will begin in the coming months. The final casting decisions are likely to be locked by June 2026, once the script receives its final approval.
The film is expected to go on floors later this year and is being jointly produced by Atul Agnihotri and Mythri Movie Makers. Given the scale of the project and the involvement of high-profile names, the film is already being positioned as one of the most ambitious Bollywood superhero films in recent years.
For now, however, sources have made it clear that Kareena Kapoor Khan is not part of the project, putting an end to ongoing speculation about her casting alongside Salman Khan.
As anticipation builds, fans will have to wait for official announcements from the makers regarding the final cast and further production updates.
