This Valentine’s week, romance meets humor in Loveyapa, a Hindi remake of the 2022 hit Love Today. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film stars Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor and hit theaters on February 7. Despite initial speculation of a box office failure, the film has proved critics wrong, showing steady growth over its opening weekend.
Box Office Performance
Loveyapa opened with ₹1.15 crore on Friday and witnessed a 43.48% jump on Saturday, collecting ₹1.65 crore. Maintaining the same pace on Sunday, the film closed its first weekend with a total of ₹4.45 crore in India, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.
Despite its promising numbers, the film faces stiff competition from Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘Badass Ravikumar’, which opened at ₹2.75 crore and garnered ₹6.15 crore by the end of its first weekend.
Aamir Khan’s Take on ‘Loveyapa’
Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, actively participated in promoting his son Junaid’s debut. At a recent event, he praised the film’s modern-day relevance, saying, “It beautifully captures how smartphones impact our lives today.” He also lauded Khushi Kapoor’s performance, comparing her screen presence to that of her legendary mother, Sridevi.
