Mumbai: The new season will feature 25 episodes and explore the Pandavas’ journey amid conflict, shifting loyalties and the struggle between dharma and adharma.

The timeless epic Mahabharata returns to the screen with the second season of Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, which is set to premiere exclusively on JioHotstar on November 24, 2026. The upcoming season will comprise 25 episodes, continuing the story of the Pandavas and their journey through a world shaped by ambition, conflict, loyalty and questions of dharma.

The teaser offers a glimpse of one of the most defining episodes from the epic — Draupadi’s cheer haran and Lord Krishna’s intervention. His assurance that he will manifest whenever adharma prevails reinforces the central theme of the Mahabharata: the enduring struggle between righteousness and injustice.

Draupadi’s cheer haran features in teaser

The teaser places Draupadi’s humiliation and Krishna’s divine assurance at the centre of its narrative introduction. The episode remains one of the most significant moments in the Mahabharata, representing the consequences of unchecked injustice and the importance of standing against adharma.

Krishna’s promise that he will appear whenever righteousness is threatened provides the thematic foundation for the new season. The glimpse suggests that the narrative will continue to explore the moral dilemmas, personal conflicts and political struggles that define the epic.

Rather than focusing only on battles and royal rivalries, the Mahabharata examines the choices made by its characters and the consequences those decisions have for families, kingdoms and society. These themes have helped the epic remain relevant across generations.

Pandavas’ journey takes centre stage

Directed by National Award winner Rohit Jaising Vaid, the second season traces the Pandavas’ journey as they face threats to their lives, changing loyalties and challenges in establishing their place in the world.

The story explores the circumstances surrounding the brothers as they navigate a complex world of relationships, power struggles and competing claims of duty. Their journey forms an important part of the larger conflict between dharma and adharma.

The 25-episode season is expected to give the narrative room to explore the characters and events that shape the epic’s unfolding story.

AI-powered visualisation brings epic to screen

Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh is a collaboration between JioStar and Collective Studios Historyverse. The series uses an AI-powered visualisation approach to recreate the characters, settings and expansive universe of the Mahabharata.

The technology and production work are managed by Galleri5, while Vijay Subramaniam serves as the producer.

The use of AI-powered visualisation forms a distinctive aspect of the series, allowing the makers to present the epic’s larger-than-life world through a contemporary screen format.
