Mammootty extends birthday wishes to Mohanlal as superstar turns 64

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s beloved figure, the renowned actor Mohanlal, marks his 64th birthday today. Mohanlal’s journey to success wasn’t paved with privilege; rather, it was a testament to his unwavering determination, hard work, and passion for his craft. Starting his career in 1978, it wasn’t until two years later that he truly embarked on his path in the film industry.

In 1980, Mohanlal made waves with his role in the blockbuster “Manjil Virinja Pookal,” albeit as a villain. However, this unconventional start didn’t hinder his ascent to stardom; soon, he became a household name in the industry.

Currently, at 64, Mohanlal is working on his 360th Malayalam film, alongside Shobana for the 56th time, though the title is yet to be revealed.

Birthday greetings began pouring in early, with his longtime colleague Mammootty sharing a heartfelt message and a photo of the two sharing a moment.

This milestone birthday coincides with the anticipation surrounding Mohanlal’s directorial debut, “Barroz,” slated for release soon.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mohanlal has been honored with five National Awards, including two for Best Actor, a Special Jury Mention, and a Special Jury Award for both acting and producing the Best Feature Film. Additionally, he has received nine State Film Awards and the distinction of being the first actor to attain the honorary rank of Lt. Col. in the Territorial Army.
