Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s eagerly awaited magnum opus Vrusshabha has officially been rescheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 25, 2025, the makers announced on Friday. The big-budget fantasy drama, originally set to release on October 16, was first postponed to November 6 and has now been shifted to Christmas Day, promising audiences a grand festive treat.

Mohanlal’s announcement and teaser reveal

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) timeline, Mohanlal unveiled a short video clip offering a glimpse of a breathtaking action sequence from the film. The actor wrote:
“Some stories are more than cinema, they’re legacies. This Christmas, witness that legacy roar to life in #Vrusshabha. A film that celebrates emotion, grandeur, and destiny. Releasing worldwide on 25th December 2025.”

The video opened with the bold statement: “A king’s arrival is royal. The preparations must be grand. Prepare for the king Vrusshabha.” The teaser, featuring sweeping visuals and a regal tone, left fans enthralled and further fuelled anticipation for the film’s release.

A warrior king reborn

The first look poster of Vrusshabha, unveiled earlier this year on Mohanlal’s birthday, had already set the internet ablaze. The superstar was depicted as a fierce warrior king, clad in golden-brown dragon-scale armour, complete with a white tilak, long hair, a thick beard, traditional ornaments, and a nose ring—exuding raw power and divine authority.

Sharing the poster then, Mohanlal captioned it:
“This one is special — dedicating it to all my fans. The wait ends. The storm awakens. With pride and power, I unveil the first look of VRUSSHABHA – a tale that will ignite your soul and echo through time.”

The post went viral within hours, earning millions of views and wide praise for its visual grandeur and the actor’s commanding presence.

A grand multi-language spectacle

Written and directed by Nanda Kishore, Vrusshabha is described as an epic fantasy-action drama exploring themes of legacy, love, and destiny. The story reportedly spans generations, blending mythical elements with emotional depth, and is being made on a lavish scale with cutting-edge production design and VFX.

The film is being shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Telugu, and will also be released in five languagesTelugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada — to reach audiences across India and abroad.

The project is a joint production by Connekkt Media and Balaji Telefilms, in association with leading producers Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, CK Padma Kumar, Varun Mathur, Saurabh Mishra, Abhishek S Vyas, Vishal Gurnani, and Juhi Parekh Mehta.

Journey of delays and rising expectations

Originally announced for an October 16 release, Vrusshabha faced minor production delays, prompting the team to move the release to November 6. With the latest change, the producers appear to have chosen Christmas 2025 for its global debut — a strategic slot that often sees high box-office turnout and family audiences flocking to cinemas.

Despite the delay, excitement surrounding the project remains undiminished. Fans have flooded social media with comments celebrating the new release date, calling the film “the perfect Christmas gift for Mohanlal fans.”

The cinematic promise of Vrusshabha

Industry insiders have described Vrusshabha as one of Mohanlal’s most ambitious projects to date. Combining action, grandeur, emotion, and visual splendour, the film aims to redefine the scale of Malayalam and Telugu cinema on a national stage.

With state-of-the-art production, stellar performances, and a powerful mythic storyline, Vrusshabha is expected to deliver a visual feast and an emotionally resonant experience.

As the much-anticipated Christmas release draws nearer, anticipation continues to build among fans and film enthusiasts alike. If early visuals are any indication, Vrusshabha could well prove to be one of the defining cinematic events of 2025 — a roaring testament to Mohanlal’s legacy and the timeless power of Indian storytelling.
