Mumbai: Actor Mouni Roy on Thursday confirmed her separation from husband Suraj Nambiar amid growing speculation surrounding their marriage.

In a joint statement shared on social media, the couple said they were disappointed by what they described as “unnecessary and intrusive attention” into their personal lives.

The statement confirmed that the two had mutually decided to part ways.

Couple seeks privacy during separation

“We note with dismay the unnecessary and intrusive attention into our personal lives by certain quarters of the media,” the statement read.

The couple further added, “We would like to state that we have decided to part ways and are taking the necessary time to address matters privately and amicably.”

Mouni Roy also appealed to fans, followers and media organisations to respect their privacy and avoid spreading speculation or false narratives during the separation.

The statement did not disclose further details regarding the reasons behind the decision.

Social media activity fuelled rumours

Speculation surrounding the couple’s marriage intensified earlier this week after several social media users claimed that Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar had unfollowed each other on Instagram.

The rumours gained further momentum after some users noticed that Suraj Nambiar’s Instagram account appeared to be unavailable later in the day.

The online discussions quickly triggered widespread speculation about trouble in their marriage, prompting the couple to eventually issue an official clarification.
