Ninna Mareyalare concert pays Tribute to Singer Vani Jayaram

Bengaluru: A musical program “Tribute to Legendary Singer Vani Jayaram” titled “Ninna Mareyalare” organised by Srujana Lalithakala Vedike and led by Gururaj of Sound of Music was recently held at Samsa Bayalu Rangamandira, Bengaluru. The event witnessed the performance of many hit songs of Vani Jayaram by popular film singers and Television singers.

Renowned multi-lingual playback singer Dr Priyadarshini, Singers Gururaj, Akanksha Badami, Chinmayi, Vijayanand, Music Director Mahesh Mahadev, Television Singers like Anjali Haliyala, Lakshmi, Shweta, Nagamangala Srinivas, Vishak Nagalapura, Venkateshmurthy Shiruru and other singers paid tribute to Vani Jayaram by singing her popular hit songs.

Film Actor Aniruddha Jatkar who witnessed the event, spoke at the gathering that Vani Jayaram lives on forever through her songs and it was a pleasure to hear her songs again through this concert. Music director Mahesh Mahadev said that the moments spent at Vani Amma’s house in Chennai on the day he visited her will never be forgotten. Priyadarshini recollected golden memories of her sharing the stage for a performance in the centenary celebrations of Legendary Music Director K. V. Mahadevan with legends S P Balasubramaniam, P. Susheela, Vani Jayaram and said that it was an unforgettable moment in her life.

Singing the song “Kanasalu Neene Manasalu Neene”, Gururaj of Sound of Music got emotional as he remembered Vani Jayaram visiting, spending time at his house and music school.

The show’s title song “Ninna Mareyalare” originally sung by Dr Rajkumar and Vani Jayaram, was presented by Singer Priyadarshini and Composer Mahesh Mahadev which entertained the audience. As Actor Anirudh entered, they also presented the foot tapping number “Sutha Mutha” as a dedication to Actor Dr Vishnuvardhan.

There were back to back more than 25 songs presented in the program including Sada Kannali, Teredide Mane, Bole Re Papihara and many others which were impressive. The live orchestra was well accompanied by Ashwini Kaushik on the flute, Rajkiran on keyboard, Shankar Davanagere on rhythm pad, Vinay Sharma on lead guitar and Kuppaswamy on the bass guitar.

Lahari Music Velu, Dr Raju, Doordarshan Television technicians, several other dignitaries and hundreds of fans were present.
