Bengaluru: The Karnataka Film Festival and Award Ceremony 2023, in the memory of Actor Puneeth Rajkumar was held yesterday at Gandhi Bhavan,. “Rajaratna Award” and “Puneetha Award” were given to the achievers in various fields and Kannada films. Playback Singer Priyadarshini B.E(EEE), M.Music, Ph.D, Playback & Classical Singer, and Performing Artist, has been honored with the prestigious “Rajaratna Award” in 2023 for her remarkable contributions in the field of Film Music. With a repertoire of over 190 movies in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi and 900 songs for private albums in 10 different languages she has captivated audiences with her melodious voice. Notably, Priyadarshini has a feather in her cap as being credited as the first playback singer in India to receive a Ph.D. doctorate in Film Music.
Sharing this news to the media and press, Priyadarshini said “I am indebted to Dr Rajkumar’s family for their love and encouragement. My first music album was released by Actor Raghavendra Rajkumar and the second one was released by Film Producer Parvathamma Rajkumar.” She added “I am absolutely delighted to receive the award in the name of Actor Puneeth Rajkumar and forever grateful to the Kannada Film Industry and people for supporting me, I thank Sanchalana team and Chandrashekar for this award.”
On this occasion, several films were screened and awards were presented to Best Actor, Best movie and many other categories. The program was inaugurated by actor Dr Chikkahejjaji Mahadev. Lyricist Dr V. Nagendra Prasad, Dr Sharanu Hullur, Actor Ganesh Rao Kesarkar, Music Director Mahesh Mahadev, Actress Sunada and many others were present as Chief Guests. Many Film press reporters, Actors, Actresses, Directors, Lyricists and Technicians witnessed the event. Chandrashekhar Madalagere informed that this is the 213th program organized by the Sanchalana team.
