The poster launch for the Konkani film “Payann” (Journey), produced by Sangeet Ghar Mangalore and helmed by the ‘Yodeling King’ Melwyn Peris, took place on the evening of July 28 at Rotary Manisha Hall, Puttur.

Gerald D’Costa, vice president of the parish council of Mai De Deus Church, Puttur, unveiled the new poster along with Don Bosco Club president Antony Olivera and secretary Joe D’Souza. D’Costa highlighted the film’s significance, stating, “Our very own Brian Sequeira is the lead actor of ‘Payann’. Everyone should watch this film and encourage our young talent.” He emphasized the importance of propagating the Konkani language to future generations.

Leslie Rego, actor, entrepreneur, and organizer, represented the ‘Payann’ film team. He praised the Don Bosco Club for its widespread fame due to social events and acknowledged Puttur’s rich musical heritage, mentioning talents like singer Alex Madtha. He also noted that Puttur is home to talent showcased in films like “Osmitay,” starring Kishore Fernandes and Praveen Pinto. Rego encouraged everyone to attend the premiere of “Payann.”

The film’s director, Joel Perera, renowned as a ‘Konkani Sangeet Guru,’ was present at the event along with the film’s heroines, Shayna D’Souza and Kate Pereira.

“Payann” is currently in the censor stage and is set to release simultaneously in Mangaluru and surrounding areas in September.

The movie stars Brian Sequeira, Jasmine D’Souza, Kate Pereira, Shayna D’Souza, Rainal Sequeira, Leslie Rego, Jerry Ruskinha, Walter Nandalike, Jeevan Vas, Jossie Rego, and others. The technical team includes music by Roshan D’Souza (Angelore), cinematography by V of Ramanjan, and editing by Mevin Joel Pinto. The movie is produced by Neeta John Peris.
