Mumbai: Preity Zinta has opened up about her approach to fame and privacy, saying she prefers to keep her personal life away from constant public attention and does not appreciate paparazzi intrusion beyond a point.

The actor shared her views during an impromptu “Ask Me Anything” session on social media platform X, where she interacted with fans on topics ranging from her films to her personal life and public image.

‘One has to set boundaries’

Responding to a fan’s question about balancing fame, privacy, and peace of mind, Preity said she does not see her choices as sacrifices but as part of managing expectations.

“I have learnt to accept things the way they are… I’m a very private person,” she wrote, adding that while she enjoys interacting with fans and posing for pictures, it is important to draw a line.

She emphasised that certain aspects of her life, especially involving her children, are strictly off-limits. “I don’t like it when people or media try to take photographs of my children… that’s non-negotiable,” she said.

Discomfort with paparazzi culture

The actor also expressed discomfort with paparazzi following her in personal spaces. She said she is fine with photographers at public events, where it is part of their work, but finds it unsettling when they appear outside her home or gym.

“I don’t like paparazzi following me around & jumping at me out of nowhere. Sometimes it’s scary,” she noted.

Preity added that while many actors today actively engage with paparazzi to stay in the news, she prefers a different approach. “I do understand their need to constantly be in the news, but it’s not how I operate,” she said.

‘I need my downtime’

Highlighting the importance of personal space, Preity said she values her downtime and believes it is essential to stay grounded.

“I’m also human & I need to stay grounded and have my downtime,” she shared, while also expressing gratitude for the love and opportunities she has received throughout her career.

Her candid remarks have resonated with many fans, sparking conversations around celebrity privacy and the growing paparazzi culture in the entertainment industry.

Comeback to the big screen

On the professional front, Preity Zinta is set to return to films after a gap. She will be seen in Lahore 1947, alongside Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh.

The film marks her return to the big screen after her last appearance in Bhaiaji Superhit (2018), generating excitement among fans eager to see her back in action.
