Bollywood actor Rahul Roy has opened up about the financial challenges he has faced since suffering a brain stroke in 2020, revealing that he sometimes earns between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 4 lakh by performing at weddings.
Known for films including Aashiqui, Junoon and Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Ayee, Roy said the years following his stroke were difficult as regular acting opportunities became limited. He said he has taken up whatever work was available while trying to rebuild his career.

Roy recently came into the spotlight after videos of him dancing at wedding functions went viral on social media. The performances prompted criticism from some people, but the actor said there was no reason to feel ashamed about earning through such work.
“I have expenses, and I need the money,” Roy said, explaining that he sometimes earns Rs 2 lakh or Rs 4 lakh from wedding performances. He added that people who troll him do not understand the effort involved and that he also needs to earn his livelihood.
Actor determined to rebuild his career at 60
Roy said the five years following his stroke were largely spent recovering, during which he had little work. He is now hoping for more acting opportunities and said he was happy to return to a film set and face the camera again.
He also revealed that he is dealing with a legal case involving around Rs 30 lakh and is rebuilding his finances after transferring his assets to his wife during his divorce.
The actor has credited several members of the film industry, including Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon and Pooja Bhatt, with supporting him during difficult periods.
