Rajinikanth has revealed that he wants Tamannaah Bhatia to feature in a song sequence in Jailer 2, saying he personally suggested the idea to director Nelson Dilipkumar. The superstar believes the actress, who appeared in the first instalment, could be the missing element in the much-anticipated sequel.

Rajinikanth explains his suggestion to Nelson

Speaking at a recent event for Jailer 2, Rajinikanth reportedly said, “The only missing element in Jailer 2 is Tamannaah.” He revealed that he had asked Nelson to include a song featuring the actress in the upcoming film.

According to the account, Nelson responded to the suggestion by saying, “I can’t keep it just because you like it, sir.” Rajinikanth then clarified that his request was not simply a matter of personal preference but was based on what he believes audiences enjoy.

“I didn’t say I like it. If I had done whatever I liked, I would have become irrelevant and gone to Bengaluru. I’m still in the field because I’m doing what audiences are loving,” the actor said.

The exchange offered a glimpse into Rajinikanth’s approach to commercial cinema. The veteran star emphasised the importance of understanding audience preferences while making creative decisions, suggesting that his recommendation was guided by what viewers might want to see on screen.

Tamannaah’s association with the Jailer franchise

Tamannaah appeared in the 2023 Tamil action entertainer Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and headlined by Rajinikanth. Her appearance in the film, particularly through its song sequence, became part of the movie’s popular appeal.

Rajinikanth’s latest remarks have now renewed interest in whether the actress will return for the sequel. His suggestion has sparked discussion among fans, although it does not confirm that a new song featuring Tamannaah has been included in the final version of the film.

Whether Nelson incorporates the idea remains to be seen. No confirmation of the proposed song is contained in the reported exchange.

What to expect from Jailer 2

Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 will see Rajinikanth return as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The sequel is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music.

The film’s cast includes S. J. Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty and Suraj Venjaramoodu, alongside returning performers Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar are also set to appear in extended cameo roles.

The sequel is expected to expand the world established by the original film, with Muthuvel Pandian facing new challenges involving a criminal syndicate and threats to his family and allies.

Jailer 2 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, 2026.

Fans await confirmation of Tamannaah’s role

Rajinikanth’s comments have added another talking point ahead of the sequel’s release. While the actor has made his preference for a Tamannaah song clear, the final decision rests with the filmmakers.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement to learn whether the actress will feature in a song or have a larger role in Jailer 2.
