Actor Ram Pothineni is actively promoting his upcoming film Andhra King Taluka alongside co-star Bhagyashri Borse. Recently, the film drew comparisons to Shah Rukh Khan’s 2016 movie Fan due to its tagline mentioning a “biopic of a fan.” During an interaction with host Sreemukhi, Ram addressed these speculations and explained how his film offers a distinct perspective on the fan-star relationship.
Ram Pothineni addresses Fan comparisons
Ram said that the confusion started with the tagline of the film.
“When the tagline of Andhra King Taluka was revealed as ‘biopic of a fan,’ many assumed it referenced Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan. However, films featuring fans either portray them as villains or explore friendship. No one has highlighted the pure relationship between a fan and a star,” he explained.
He emphasised that his film celebrates the emotional and unconditional bond between a fan and a star, portraying admiration in its true essence.
“No one explored purely the relationship between a star and a fan, which is one of the most beautiful relationships. It’s often misunderstood; it’s unconditional love. What is a greater love than doing something for someone who doesn’t even know you exist?” Ram said.
Plot and cast details
Directed by Mahesh Babu Pachigolla, Andhra King Taluka stars Ram Pothineni, Nimma Upendra, Bhagyashri Borse, Rao Ramesh, Murali Sharma, and Rahul Ramakrishna. Promotions and the trailer suggest a story about a man (played by Ram) who is deeply devoted to a star (played by Upendra), unaware of the fan’s existence. The trailer also shows moments where Ram’s obsession is mocked, yet the narrative focuses on admiration rather than negative consequences.
Ram highlighted that the film intends to explore the beauty of the fan-star relationship rather than dramatise obsession or create conflict for cinematic effect.

The film’s unique angle has sparked curiosity among fans who are eager to see how the story differentiates itself from previous portrayals of fan obsession. With a focus on emotional depth and human connections, Andhra King Taluka is expected to resonate with audiences across demographics.
