Mumbai: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, has crossed Rs 7 crore in domestic advance bookings, including blocked seats, while overseas pre-sales have surpassed $1.10 million ahead of its November 5, 2026, theatrical release.
Ramayana advance bookings show steady growth
India is witnessing growing advance-booking activity for Ramayana, the much-anticipated epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The film has generated encouraging pre-release interest in domestic and international markets, with premium-format screenings contributing a notable share of ticket sales.
According to Sacnilk, the film’s advance bookings in India stood at Rs 7.24 crore, including blocked seats, as of Thursday. Around 1.28 lakh tickets had been sold across 3,707 shows nationwide.
Excluding blocked seats, the domestic advance collection stood at Rs 5.31 crore. The reported overall theatre occupancy was 15%, with demand varying across cities, languages and screening formats.
The figures indicate that the Hindi version is currently driving most of the domestic pre-sales. However, the final opening will depend on how bookings develop closer to release and how the film performs after its first shows.
With its scale, star cast and association with the Ramayana epic, the film is expected to attract audiences across several regional markets. Its advance-booking performance is being closely watched as the release date approaches.
Hindi version leads language-wise bookings
The Hindi version accounts for the largest share of Ramayana’s domestic advance sales. It has collected Rs 6.63 crore, according to the reported figures.
The Kannada version has recorded advance bookings worth Rs 42.06 lakh, while the Telugu version has collected Rs 17.29 lakh. The difference between the language-wise figures suggests that the Hindi market remains the principal contributor to the film’s advance collection at this stage.
Regional-language releases will nevertheless be important for the film’s broader reach. The epic’s familiarity across India could help it attract audiences beyond Hindi-speaking territories, although the eventual contribution of each market will become clearer after release.
The reported numbers reflect advance sales at the time of the update and may change as additional shows open and more tickets are booked.
IMAX and premium formats attract audiences
Premium theatrical formats are emerging as an important part of Ramayana’s advance-booking performance. IMAX 3D, Dolby Cinema and 4DX 3D screenings have collectively generated substantial pre-sales, highlighting interest in watching the epic on larger screens with enhanced audiovisual presentation.
IMAX 3D has collected Rs 1.70 crore from 15,537 tickets across 117 shows. The reported occupancy for these screenings stands at 45%.
Dolby Cinema has recorded Rs 22.74 lakh from 4,476 tickets across nine shows, with occupancy reaching 80%. Meanwhile, 4DX 3D screenings have earned Rs 22.38 lakh from 2,929 tickets across 90 shows.
Together, the three premium formats have generated approximately Rs 2.20 crore across 230 shows, according to the figures provided.
Regular 3D screenings have collected Rs 4.80 crore across 3,385 shows, while the 2D version has recorded Rs 10.89 lakh.
The figures point to a sizeable contribution from premium screenings, particularly IMAX 3D. Dolby Cinema’s reported occupancy is also notably high, although the number of shows is much smaller than that of regular 3D screenings. Occupancy figures can vary depending on seating capacity, show timings and the number of screenings available in each market.
Delhi-NCR and Mumbai lead city-wise advance sales
Delhi-NCR is leading the city-wise advance-booking figures, with collections of Rs 1.82 crore across 768 shows. Mumbai follows with Rs 1.37 crore from 613 shows.
Hyderabad has recorded Rs 40.38 lakh from 37 shows, with occupancy reported at 65%. Pune has collected Rs 39.12 lakh, followed by Ahmedabad at Rs 33.80 lakh, Bengaluru at Rs 33.43 lakh and Kolkata at Rs 32.76 lakh.
Bengaluru has registered 49% occupancy across 42 shows, according to the reported data. Hyderabad’s occupancy is comparatively high, though its number of listed shows is substantially lower than those in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai.
The city-wise figures show that major metropolitan markets are contributing to the film’s advance sales. Delhi-NCR and Mumbai are ahead in absolute collections, while Hyderabad’s reported occupancy indicates strong demand relative to its listed screenings.
These figures provide an early snapshot rather than a definitive prediction of the film’s opening-day performance. Advance bookings can accelerate during the final days before release, particularly for a large-scale production with extensive show schedules.
Maharashtra and Delhi top state-wise collections
Maharashtra leads the reported state-wise advance-booking figures with Rs 1.98 crore. Delhi follows with Rs 1.82 crore, reflecting the strong contributions from Mumbai and the Delhi-NCR market, respectively.
Gujarat has collected Rs 50.27 lakh, while Karnataka has recorded Rs 42.88 lakh. Telangana’s advance collection stands at Rs 40.38 lakh.
The state-wise distribution highlights the importance of established cinema markets in driving early ticket sales. Maharashtra’s lead is supported by Mumbai’s strong numbers, while Delhi remains a major contributor through its extensive network of theatres and screenings.
Karnataka and Telangana are also part of the film’s regional advance-booking picture, with Bengaluru and Hyderabad among the cities reporting measurable demand. As the release date approaches, additional shows and changes in ticket availability could affect the final figures.
Overseas advance bookings cross $1.10 million
Ramayana has also crossed $1.10 million in overseas advance bookings across all dates, according to Sacnilk. Opening-day pre-sales have exceeded $600,000, indicating interest among international audiences ahead of the Indian release.
North America is contributing a significant portion of the overseas demand. The market has generated around $475,000 in advance bookings, including approximately $350,000 from premiere shows.
The overseas figures add another dimension to the film’s pre-release performance. Large Indian productions often rely on international markets to supplement domestic theatrical revenue, and North America remains an important territory for Indian films targeting audiences abroad.
However, advance bookings alone do not determine the film’s eventual box-office outcome. The final collections will depend on audience response, show availability, ticket sales closer to release and the film’s performance over its opening weekend.
Ranbir Kapoor leads Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part epic
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Hindu epic. The first instalment is scheduled to release in theatres on November 5, 2026, while the second part is planned for Diwali 2027.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi portrays Sita, Yash takes on the role of Ravana and Sunny Deol appears as Hanuman. The casting brings together prominent performers from Hindi and South Indian cinema, giving the production a broad national profile.
The film’s subject, scale and multilingual appeal have made its box-office prospects a point of interest well before release. The makers are aiming to present the epic to contemporary theatrical audiences, with premium formats offering another way to experience the production on the big screen.
With domestic advance bookings crossing Rs 7 crore and overseas pre-sales exceeding $1.10 million, Ramayana has registered a notable pre-release performance. The coming days will show whether bookings gather further momentum and how strongly the film opens when it reaches theatres on November 5.
