Mumbai: Even before its theatrical release, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has created another industry milestone. The music rights for both parts of the epic starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi have been acquired by T-Series in a refundable advance deal worth ₹75 crore, making it one of the biggest audio rights deals in the history of Hindi cinema.
The agreement covers the music rights for both instalments of the two-part franchise. Earlier reports suggested that the makers were aiming for a ₹100 crore deal, but after negotiations, T-Series secured the rights with a ₹75 crore advance.

According to reports, the deal includes the music rights for both Ramayana: Part One and its sequel.
Sources close to the development said T-Series was confident about the soundtrack’s commercial potential, especially with A.R. Rahman composing the songs and Hans Zimmer handling the background score. The collaboration between the two Oscar-winning composers has generated significant anticipation among music lovers.
Refundable advance structure
The agreement has reportedly been structured as a refundable advance, under which T-Series has paid ₹75 crore upfront for the music rights.
Industry reports suggest the arrangement allows the final settlement to depend on the film’s eventual music revenues and commercial performance, making it a different model from conventional outright rights acquisitions.
Ramayana continues to set records
The ambitious mythological epic has remained in the spotlight since its announcement.
Backed by producer Namit Malhotra, the film is reportedly among the most expensive Indian productions ever made. It recently announced a global distribution partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment for international markets and has been generating record-breaking business even before release.
Trailer to release on July 30
The makers have also confirmed that the film’s much-awaited trailer will be released worldwide on 30 July during the auspicious Brahma Muhurat at 4:15 am IST.
The trailer was originally scheduled to launch earlier but was postponed following the announcement of the international distribution deal.
