The coastal city of Mangalore prides itself on having a diverse population. People of different origins, faiths and languages reside in this small homely city and what is most unique about the people of this place is the common language that binds them. Tulu, as a language is unique and is very dear to the people who live in the city.

Well, what better news then for Mangalureans,  than the fact that the Tulu film industry has reached a new milestone. Taking creativity to a new level, Opera Dream Movies, a well renowned production house presents to its people the first Tulu Rap song. The innovative and incredibly catchy song by the name ‘Yenchi Saav Ya’ (which means what the heck) is the part of an upcoming film ‘Rambarooti’ directed by Prajwal Kumar Attavar.

While the name itself catches the eye and makes you wonder what the song is all about, the lyrics by Saumesh Bangera will leave you completely dazed. What gets you to listen to the song on loop is the way the lyrics speak to you and help you relate to things that you experience in your day to day life. Interestingly, the song is also sung by Bangera himself.

“Yenchi Saav Ya was written by Saumesh a year ago. At that time I heard it and we decided to have it recorded. But when I decided to debut as a director we kept the song on hold as I felt that the song deserved a much bigger platform”, said Prajwal and added that the song has been released to promote the upcoming film Rambarooti.

The rap song is the first of its kind in the Tulu industry and it has already impressed the audiences. The phrase ‘yenchi saav ya’ itself helps anyone, from a college going lad to a working man, connect to the song. It’s a part of who they are and where they come from. These are some of the common thoughts shared by people who enjoy the song and wait to listen to more songs from the movie.

The essence of the song apart from the lyrics comes from the music. It is the music that touches the heart and gets you listening. The magician working with the music of this song is newcomer Loy Valentine Saldanha. This young lad has managed to keep the rhythm flowing and has indeed got people to tap their feet. While speaking to News Karnataka about the way he works, he said that he feels the music and this is what makes him work with ease. He also mentioned that he took merely a week to compose and arrange the music of this song. Indeed that’s what we call a gifted Music Director.

Shot in CAD media studio in Mangaluru the editing & VFX (graphics) of the song has also been done by Pratheek Shetty along with his team. The video of the song includes all the characters of the film and the commendable choreography is done by Avinash Poojary who has to his credit the title of Udaya TV 7 up dancing stars.

Yenchi Saav Ya as a promotional video has definitely played its magic with over 15,000 views in just 2 days of being uploaded on YouTube. The song seems to have laid a strong foundation to the music of the film itself.

The film Rambarooti is set to hit the silver screen this year. Boasting of a fresh cast and a new technical team, the film promises to be movie worth watching. The film is produced by Prakash Kabettu, Srinivas ujire & Prabha srinivas and the star cast include VJ Vineeth, Shruthi Kotyan, Chirashree Anchan, Shabarish Kabbinale,Harish shetty and Shanil guru.
