Afghanistan’s star cricketer Rashid Khan has officially confirmed that he has married for the second time, putting an end to widespread rumours about his relationship status following viral images circulating on social media.

Days after photos and videos surfaced online showing Rashid sitting beside a woman dressed in traditional Afghan attire, the cricketer took to Instagram to clarify that the woman in question is indeed his wife and that their nikaah took place on August 2, 2025.

Rashid confirms marriage on Instagram

In his statement, the 27-year-old leg-spinner shared heartfelt details about the new phase of his life.

“On August 2nd, 2025, I began a new and meaningful chapter of my life. I had my nikaah and married a woman who embodies the love, peace, and partnership I always hoped for,” Rashid wrote.

He went on to address the speculation that arose after he and his wife attended a recent charity event together. “It’s unfortunate to see assumptions being made from something so simple. The truth is straightforward — she is my wife, and we stand together with nothing to hide,” he said.

The Afghan cricketer also expressed gratitude towards fans who supported him through the rumours: “To everyone who has shown kindness, support, and understanding — thank you.”

Earlier marriage in 2024

Rashid Khan had previously married in October 2024 in Kabul, in a joint wedding ceremony with his brothers Amir Khalil, Zakiullah, and Raza Khan. That wedding had also drawn public attention after photos of the family celebration circulated widely on social media.

According to reports, his first marriage had been a private affair attended only by close relatives and friends.

Social media speculation

The cricketer, who maintains a massive online following across Afghanistan and beyond, has often kept his personal life away from public attention. However, the recent viral visuals — taken at a charity event — led to intense online discussions about whether Rashid had remarried.

Rashid’s clarification post quickly went viral, with fans across the world sending congratulatory messages and blessings for his new chapter.

Focus on cricket continues

Despite the media attention surrounding his personal life, Rashid remains focused on his cricketing commitments. The Afghan all-rounder is expected to lead the Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 2025–26 season, before joining Sunrisers Hyderabad for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Known for his consistent performances and leadership in Afghanistan’s national team, Rashid continues to be one of the most sought-after players in international T20 leagues.
