Mumbai: Actress Riva Arora has alleged harassment by a delivery agent from Blinkit, recounting a disturbing incident that took place at her residence in Mumbai. The actor opened up about the episode nearly ten days after it occurred, highlighting concerns over safety and accountability in last-mile delivery services.

Incident escalated despite attempts to de-escalate

According to Riva, the incident occurred on April 26 at around 3:30 pm when a Blinkit delivery agent arrived at her home with an order. What began as a routine delivery quickly escalated due to the alleged rude and inappropriate behaviour of the agent.

Speaking about the encounter, Riva stated that the agent’s tone was confrontational from the outset. Despite her attempts to respond calmly, the situation did not improve. Her mother, Nisha Arora, intervened in an effort to defuse tensions, but the delivery agent allegedly continued to behave disrespectfully.

The situation intensified further when Riva’s sister encountered the agent in the lift while he was leaving the building. According to the actor, the agent continued using offensive language even after being repeatedly asked to stop.

“It wasn’t just a one-time remark,” Riva said, adding that the language used was “disrespectful, inappropriate, and crass,” and was directed at the family without any provocation.

Verbal altercation led to police intervention

Riva explained that the verbal altercation, which began at the doorstep, escalated as the agent attempted to leave the premises. Concerned by his behaviour, the family followed him downstairs and managed to stop him before he could leave.

The family then contacted the Mumbai Police, who responded promptly to the distress call. Police officials arrived at the location shortly thereafter and took control of the situation.

“The police responded very quickly and took immediate action when they arrived,” Riva noted, adding that the matter was handled on the spot.

She further confirmed that the case is currently being addressed through appropriate legal and administrative channels.

Formal complaint filed with Blinkit

In addition to seeking police assistance, Riva stated that her family has filed a formal complaint with Blinkit, urging the company to take accountability for the conduct of its delivery personnel.

“We have raised a formal complaint with Blinkit as well, because accountability at that level is equally important,” she said. The actor added that they are awaiting a clear response and resolution from the company regarding the incident.

The episode has once again brought attention to concerns around customer safety, delivery staff training, and grievance redressal mechanisms in India’s rapidly expanding quick-commerce sector.

Actor’s career and public response

Riva Arora is known for her roles in several popular Hindi films, including Uri: The Surgical Strike, Bharat, and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. Her statement has sparked discussions on social media, with many users calling for stricter measures to ensure customer safety during doorstep deliveries.

While Blinkit has yet to issue a detailed public response at the time of writing, incidents like these underline the importance of maintaining professional conduct and robust oversight in customer-facing services.

Conclusion

The alleged incident involving Riva Arora and a Blinkit delivery agent highlights the urgent need for stronger accountability mechanisms in the gig economy. As the matter proceeds through official channels, both law enforcement and corporate response will play a crucial role in ensuring justice and restoring public trust.
