Mumbai: The makers of Ramayana have unveiled a new character promo featuring Sai Pallavi as Sita, offering audiences a closer look at the actor’s portrayal of the princess of Mithila ahead of the film’s theatrical release on November 5, 2026.
The newly released video presents different aspects of Sita’s character, moving between visuals of her royal life in Mithila and moments highlighting her connection with the Earth and Lord Rama. It also emphasises the values traditionally associated with her character, including devotion, love and Dharma.
Two phrases, ‘Daughter of the Earth’ and ‘Bound by Love’, feature prominently in the promo, providing a glimpse into the way the filmmakers are introducing Sita and her journey in the epic.
Sharing the character promo on social media, the makers described her as the “Daughter of the Earth, princess of Mithila” and said she was “Bound by love, guided by Dharma”. The post introduced Sai Pallavi as Sita and added to the film’s promotional campaign ahead of its much-anticipated theatrical debut.
Sai Pallavi’s portrayal of Sita takes centre stage
Sai Pallavi’s casting as Sita is among the key aspects of the ambitious cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic. Known for her performances in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films, the actor now takes on one of the most significant female characters in Indian mythology.
The latest promo focuses on presenting Sita beyond her identity as Lord Rama’s wife. By highlighting her origins as the daughter of the Earth, her royal upbringing in Mithila and her association with Dharma, the video offers audiences a broader introduction to the character.
The visuals also draw attention to the emotional dimension of Sita’s story. Her devotion and relationship with Rama form an important part of the narrative, while her strength and dignity remain central to her place in the epic.
The character reveal is part of a series of promotional updates through which the makers are introducing the principal characters and giving viewers glimpses of the film’s visual interpretation of the Ramayana.
Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sunny Deol lead the cast
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana features a prominent ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita.
Yash portrays Ravana, while Sunny Deol plays Hanuman and Ravie Dubey appears as Lakshman. The casting brings together performers from different film industries for the two-part adaptation.
The project is being mounted on a large scale, with the makers aiming to present the epic through an ambitious cinematic production. Its two-part format is intended to give the filmmakers room to explore the characters and events of the story across a wider narrative.
The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. The second part is planned for a Diwali 2027 release.
Ramayana to release in five languages
Produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is scheduled to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
The film will also be screened in premium theatrical formats, including IMAX, giving audiences an opportunity to experience the production on larger screens.
Sony Pictures will handle international distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions will oversee distribution in the Hindi-speaking market.
The international distribution arrangement reflects the scale of the film’s release plans, with the makers seeking to take the story to audiences beyond the Indian market.
