Sai Pallavi has credited director Rajkumar Periasamy for helping her take on the role of an IPS officer in Om: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood. Speaking at the film’s audio launch in Chennai on Friday, the actor said the filmmaker had greater confidence in her ability to portray the police officer than she had in herself.

The actor also praised Periasamy’s approach to writing women characters, describing him as every actress’s dream director. She said her character in Om had several layers and thanked the filmmaker for giving her an opportunity to explore the role.

Sai Pallavi recalls her wish to work with Periasamy again

Recalling her experience of working with Mammootty in Om, Sai Pallavi shared an amusing connection with her previous film, Amaran.

“In my previous film, I kept hearing the name Mammootty, and now I have ended up acting alongside Mammootty sir. I don’t know if I manifested it,” she said.

Sai Pallavi also recalled expressing her desire to collaborate with Rajkumar Periasamy again after Amaran. She said she had made it clear to the filmmaker that she wanted to be part of his next project.

“I told him during the previous film that I wanted to be part of his next one. I had already reserved a spot for myself, so to speak. But he really made it happen. He believed in my police role more than I did,” she said.

The actor’s remarks highlighted the trust Periasamy placed in her ability to portray an IPS officer, a role that required her to take on a different screen persona.

Sai Pallavi was particularly appreciative of the way Periasamy develops female characters in his films. She said her role in Om was written with multiple layers and praised the director for the depth he brings to his women characters.

“He is every actress’s dream director. The way he writes his women characters is amazing,” she said.

She also thanked the team responsible for the film’s stunt sequences, describing the experience of performing them as memorable.
