Sandeep Pradeep is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about new faces in Malayalam cinema, thanks to his standout roles in Alappuzha Gymkhana and Padakkalam. As Padakkalam gains traction online, comparisons have emerged between him and Naslen, the young star of Premalu, sparking memes, discussions, and even playful rivalry talk on social media.
In Alappuzha Gymkhana, directed by Khalid Rahman, Sandeep plays Valuth Sharif, the loyal friend of Jojo, played by Naslen. The film is a buddy sports comedy about a group of youngsters trying to gain college admission through sports after failing their board exams. Available on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium, it has become a fan favorite.
Addressing the comparisons, Sandeep said in an interview with The Cue Studio, “Naslen is already a known and loved actor. I just arrived. Naturally, when someone new comes, comparisons are bound to happen. But I don’t give it much thought.” He also emphasized that their friendship remains unaffected despite the online chatter.
He added, “Naslen is leading the pack of teenage heroes in Malayalam right now. After him, we all followed. I hope even more new talents emerge.”
Sandeep’s other recent film, Padakkalam, featuring Suraj Venjaramoodu and Sharaf U Dheen, blends fantasy with reality and is now streaming on JioHotstar.
