Mangaluru: Actor Shaneel Gautham, who won appreciation for his portrayal of the dependable Ravi Anna in the Kannada hit Su From So, is set to take on the lead role in his next film, titled Shreeramachandra. The makers unveiled the film’s title and first-look poster on the occasion of the actor’s birthday.
Directed by Chandramohan, known for Forest, and produced by BK Gangadhar, who previously backed Pogaru, Shreeramachandra is being developed as an emotional dramedy centred on family relationships. The film is expected to combine humour and sentiment while exploring sibling disagreements, emotional conflicts and the bonds that hold a family together.
The project marks an important step for Shaneel Gautham, who earned recognition among Kannada film audiences through Su From So. His performance as Ravi Anna helped establish him as a familiar and dependable presence in the film’s ensemble. With Shreeramachandra, the actor will take on a more prominent responsibility, leading a story built around everyday family dynamics.
Story developed after months of screenplay work in Mangaluru
The story of Shreeramachandra was originally conceived by producer Uday K Mehta. Director Chandramohan and Shaneel Gautham subsequently worked on developing the concept into a full screenplay.
The duo spent nearly six months in Mangaluru, concentrating on the script and shaping its narrative. The extended development period was aimed at giving the family drama a strong emotional foundation while retaining the humour that forms an important part of its treatment.
Producer BK Gangadhar reportedly listened to several story pitches while searching for his next production. He eventually selected the script of Shreeramachandra and decided to take the project forward.
The film went on floors after the team completed its pre-production preparations. The makers’ approach suggests that considerable attention was given to developing the screenplay and organising the production before filming began.
Paripurna Chandrashekar makes Kannada debut
Udupi-based actor Paripurna Chandrashekar has been cast as the female lead in Shreeramachandra. Having previously worked in other film industries, she will make her debut in Kannada cinema with this project.
Her entry into the Kannada film industry adds another dimension to the cast, which brings together performers with experience in comedy and character-driven roles.
The supporting cast includes Praveen, known for his appearance in Sarkari Hi. Pra. Shaale, along with popular performers Prakash Thuminad and Deepak Rai Panaje.
Prakash Thuminad and Deepak Rai Panaje are familiar faces in Tulu and Kannada entertainment circles, particularly for their comic and character performances. Their inclusion is expected to contribute to the film’s lighter moments, complementing its emotional storyline.
Major reunion of Su From So team
One of the notable aspects of Shreeramachandra is the reunion of a substantial part of the team behind Su From So. According to the makers, approximately 80 per cent of the cast and technical crew from the earlier film have come together for the new venture.
The association brings together several members of a team that worked on a film which connected with audiences. Their return for Shreeramachandra also creates continuity among the people involved in the two productions, even though the new film explores a different story.
Chandrasekharan is handling cinematography, while Likhith Prasad Shetty is composing the music. The film will feature five songs, which are expected to form part of its emotional and entertainment elements.
With its focus on family relationships, the film’s music and visual treatment will play an important role in balancing its lighter and more sentimental portions.
Shooting expected to conclude soon
Shreeramachandra is currently in the final phase of production. The makers are planning to complete the remaining filming over the next 20 days.
The title and first-look poster have now introduced the project to audiences, with the birthday announcement giving the film additional attention among followers of Shaneel Gautham and Su From So.
While the makers have outlined the film’s central theme and revealed its principal cast and crew, further details, including its release schedule, are awaited.
With Chandramohan directing, BK Gangadhar producing and Shaneel Gautham leading a cast that includes Paripurna Chandrashekar, Praveen, Prakash Thuminad and Deepak Rai Panaje, Shreeramachandra is shaping up as a family entertainer blending comedy and emotion. The reunion of much of the Su From So team is another aspect likely to draw interest as the film moves towards completion.
