The Virat Vishwakarma Mahotsava, organized by the Vishwakarma Seva Prathistana, is an annual event dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma, celebrated with immense devotion and enthusiasm. As part of this celebration, several distinguished individuals from various fields were honoured with awards for their exemplary achievements. Renowned playback singer Dr. Priyadarshini was awarded with the Vishwakarma Seva Ratna Award for her exceptional contributions in the field of music. The award ceremony was held at the Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru recently.

Dr. Priyadarshini has lent her voice to over 190 films, performing songs in more than 18 languages. She also holds the distinction of being India’s first playback singer to earn a PhD for her 100 years research in film music. Adding to her accolades, she was also recently conferred the “Sri Raghavendra Sadbhavana Award 2025” by the Aryabhata Cultural Organisation during its 50th anniversary celebrations for her excellence in playback singing. This honour marks yet another addition to Dr. Priyadarshini’s growing list of accolades in just a matter of weeks.

Addressing the press, Dr. Priyadarshini shared, “Music is not merely an art it’s a powerful medium that uplifts society by touching hearts and inspiring minds. I’m sincerely grateful to the Vishwakarma Seva Prathistana who are honouring achievers with awards not only from their community but also individuals like me beyond their community.”

The event was inaugurated by prominent political leaders including Member of Parliament Dr. C N Manjuntha, BJP President B.Y Vijayendra, Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly R Ashok, HM Revanna and MLC T A Sharavana and other dignitaries.

The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished personalities, including film director Sai Prakash, retired IAS officer Dr. C. Somashekar, actor Dhruva Sarja, actress Shruthi, celebrated sculptor Arun Yogi Raj, former MLA N. L. Narendra Babu, music composer Mahesh Mahadev, and actress Sujatha, along with other esteemed guests. A few of them were also honoured and felicitated during the occasion in recognition of their noteworthy contributions.
