Mumbai:Filmmaker Subhash Ghai is reuniting with actor Shreyas Talpade after 20 years for his upcoming film Manya, marking a fresh collaboration following their association on the National Award-winning film Iqbal. The reunion comes as Ghai completes 50 years in Indian cinema and his production house, Mukta Arts, prepares to celebrate its 48th anniversary on October 24.

Produced by Mukta Arts and Puneet Aggarwal, Manya is directed by Sameer Joshi. The film is described as a heartwarming drama centred on a juvenile boy from the slums who turns to theft, exploring the circumstances that shape his life and his subsequent journey.

Subhash Ghai praises Shreyas Talpade’s versatility

Speaking about working with Talpade again, Ghai praised the actor’s versatility and ability to bring depth to his characters.

“Working with Shreyas Talpade for this film has been a wonderful experience. He is an exceptionally versatile actor who has demonstrated his range through films like Iqbal, Apna Sapna Money Money and Golmaal,” Ghai said.

He added that Talpade’s performance in Manya had reminded him of the actor’s ability to portray characters with authenticity and depth.

Describing the project as the beginning of further collaborations, Ghai said the two would work together on more films as Mukta Arts entered another year of its journey.

Their reunion brings together the filmmaker and actor two decades after Iqbal, the acclaimed sports drama that featured Talpade in the lead role of a deaf and mute aspiring cricketer. The film earned recognition for its story and performances, becoming a notable title in both their careers.
