Veteran actor and classical dancer Sudha Chandran has spoken about a deeply personal gesture by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, describing him as “incredible” and praising his quiet generosity.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sudha recalled an incident from when she was working on a film with Salman during a difficult period in her life. At the time, her mother was undergoing treatment for cancer.
A gesture she never forgot
Sudha said Salman had sent for her during a lunch break on set. “He told me he had heard that my mother was suffering from cancer and asked if I needed any help,” she shared.
Surprised that he knew about her personal situation, she asked how he had come to know. According to Sudha, Salman simply responded that the source was irrelevant and told her that if she needed any assistance, he would be “just one phone call away”.
She described the moment as deeply moving, saying it earned her immense respect for him.
Compassion without publicity
Sudha also reflected on Salman’s personality, stating that he never publicises his acts of kindness. “When one hand gives, the other should not know,” she said, adding that what the public sees and who he truly is can be very different.
Calling him a person with “a heart of gold”, she said the gesture left a lasting impression on her, not because he is a superstar, but because he chose compassion without seeking recognition.
Though Salman may not remember the moment, Sudha said it remains one of the most meaningful memories of her career.
