James Michael Tyler known for the character Gunther on “Friends” has died. He passed away on Sunday morning at his home in Los Angeles. He was suffering from prostate cancer.
Tyler was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018. The world knew him as Gunther, but for his family he was an actor, musician, cancer awareness advocate, and loving husband, said his family.
Other than Friends he acted in “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “Modern Music,” “Just Shoot Me!” etc. but “Friends” remains as the fan favourite work.
In the beginning of the show, ‘Friends’, Gunter was always seen in the background. He got the role in Friends just because he knew how to operate the coffee machine. Later he gradually became a prominent character in the show.
He played in the 150 episodes of “Friends” as a worker in Central Perk cafe.
According to Warner Bros. Television, “a beloved actor and integral part of our ‘Friends’ family.”
Fans from around the globe have shared social media posts, mourning the death of Tyler.
