Sowmya Janu has ignited controversy after a viral video captured her assaulting a traffic police officer in Hyderabad. The incident reportedly occurred when the officer stopped her for driving on the wrong route. The video circulated on X (formerly Twitter), depicts Sowmya hurling abuses at the official and physically attacking him, including tearing his clothes.
The altercation unfolded on Saturday night, February 24, in Banjara Hills, where Sowmya, driving a Jaguar, was stopped by the traffic police for violating traffic rules. Despite attempts by bystanders to defuse the situation, it reportedly escalated, with Sowmya allegedly confiscating the officer’s phone after assaulting him.

According to a DNA India report, Sowmya Janu has been booked under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA) for her actions. As of now, Sowmya Janu has not stated the incident, while social media users are demanding stringent actions against the actress.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for accountability, underscoring the importance of respecting law enforcement authorities and adhering to traffic regulations.
