Mumbai: Sidharth Malhotra is set to return to the big screen after more than a year with The Vvaan, which marks his first pairing with Tamannaah Bhatia. The forest-themed entertainer has generated interest for its subject, family-friendly presentation and its depiction of Chhath Puja celebrations.

The film has now completed its censor process, with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) clearing it without asking for any cuts or audio-visual modifications.

CBFC clears The Vvaan untouched

The Examining Committee of the CBFC did not recommend a single cut or modification to The Vvaan. The board also did not ask the makers to make additional changes such as alterations to the film’s credits or the inclusion of an anti-drug ticker or advertisement.

The film has been granted a U/A 16+ certificate, making it a rare recent release to receive certification without any cuts or modifications.

The censor certificate was handed over to the makers on September 22.

Film runs for 2 hours and 16 minutes

According to the censor certificate, The Vvaan has a total runtime of 136.25 minutes, which translates to 2 hours, 16 minutes and 25 seconds.

The first half runs for approximately 1 hour and 4 minutes, while the post-interval portion is around 1 hour and 12 minutes.

The film’s certification without cuts also indicates that the makers have retained the story, visuals and dialogues in the form submitted to the CBFC.

An industry insider, commenting on the certification, said the outcome was not entirely unexpected, pointing to the film’s restrained treatment of violence and romance.

The insider also suggested that the dialogues may have been written appropriately for the film’s intended presentation, leaving little reason for the examining committee to seek changes.

Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia headline the film

The Vvaan brings Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia together for the first time. The film is positioned as a forest-themed entertainer and has also attracted attention for showcasing the Chhath Puja celebrations, an element that is relatively uncommon in mainstream Hindi cinema.

The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms in association with Arunabh Kumar’s TVF Motion Pictures and Niraj Kothari’s 11:11 Productions.

Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, The Vvaan is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 25.

With the CBFC certification process completed ahead of its theatrical release, the film is now set for its arrival on the big screen without any cuts or modifications mandated by the censor board.
