Actress Urmila Matondkar recently expressed her pride in being part of the iconic film Satya. Sharing a nostalgic Instagram reel featuring the lively track Goli Maar sung by Mano, she captioned it:
“Once in a lifetime a movie like ‘Satya’ comes along… Humbled and proud to be a part of it. Don’t forget to catch it in its re-release at @pvrcinemas_official from 17th January.”
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, Satya (1998) is a landmark crime drama starring J.D. Chakravarthy, Urmila Matondkar, and Manoj Bajpayee, with stellar support from Saurabh Shukla and Paresh Rawal. It marked the first installment of Varma’s Gangster trilogy, exploring organized crime in India. The film follows Satya, an immigrant who befriends Bhiku Mhatre and is drawn into Mumbai’s underworld.
Earlier this month, Urmila shared her love for Bollywood classics, posting glamorous photos reminiscent of the song Yeh Mera Dil Yaar Ka Diwana. Dressed in a rhinestone-studded black gown, she wrote:
“Love this song and somehow this pose reminded me of it. Bollywood Legends: Timeless, Classy, Bold n Beautiful.”
Amid professional reflections, news of her personal life also surfaced. Reports indicate Urmila filed for divorce from her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, after eight years of marriage. Sources suggest the petition, submitted in Bandra, Mumbai, was not mutual.
Urmila, who debuted in 1977 with Karm, delivered hits like Rangeela, Judaai, Kaun?, and Bhoot. Her last major film was the Marathi movie Ajoba (2014), followed by a cameo in Blackmail (2018).
