Mumbai: Vikrant Massey has opened up about the intense and exhausting work schedules he endured during his early days in the television industry, revealing that he once shot continuously for 110 hours.

Speaking on the podcast Unfiltered by Samdish, the actor shared candid insights into the demanding environment that shaped his career before transitioning to films.

Extreme working hours in television

Recalling his early experiences, Vikrant said that long working hours were a common norm in the television industry at the time.

“Back in the day, artists would shoot for 18–20 hours. There came a time when I had to shoot for 110 hours straight without stopping,” he revealed.

He described how such schedules were physically draining and mentally taxing, with little time for rest or recovery.

Chaotic production environment

Vikrant highlighted the lack of structure in production schedules, where day shifts often blended into night shoots without any clear boundaries.

“They had no choice but to use me as a filler. Day shifts were melting into night shifts. There was no sense of time,” he said.

He also recounted instances where shoots would continue unpredictably, sometimes depending on the availability or actions of other actors on set.

Financial success at a young age

Despite the challenges, Vikrant acknowledged that television provided him with significant financial stability early in life.

“I earned a lot on TV. I bought my first house at the age of 24,” he shared, noting that the industry helped him achieve financial independence at a young age.

However, he also pointed out that much of the content being produced at the time felt regressive, which contributed to his desire for change.

Shift towards cinema

As his career progressed, Vikrant began to reassess his priorities. While financial growth was important, he realised it was not enough to sustain him creatively or emotionally.

This realisation, combined with his responsibilities towards his family, prompted him to explore opportunities in cinema.

Over time, he successfully transitioned to films, where he gained recognition for his nuanced performances across a variety of genres.
