Actor Vivek Oberoi is celebrating an emotional milestone as his adopted daughter Sahara Shah, who battled cancer as a young child, prepares to make her acting debut.

Oberoi adopted Sahara when she was around two-and-a-half years old while she was undergoing cancer treatment. Now 22 and cancer-free, Sahara has completed aviation training and is pursuing another dream by stepping into the film industry.

From cancer survivor to aspiring actor

Sahara announced her film debut at the Cancer Patients Aid Association’s Cancer Rose Day event in Mumbai. She has been signed as the lead actress in the upcoming Nepali film 26 Crore, reportedly after an audition.

She will share the screen with Nepali actor Pradeep Khadka. The film is expected to release next year.

Sahara sought Oberoi’s blessings before beginning her new journey, recalling how his encouragement allowed her to dream about acting, dancing and other possibilities while growing up.
