Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan, aged 81, showcased remarkable dedication by performing his own stunts for Nag Ashwin Reddy’s latest futuristic sci-fi epic, “Kalki 2898 AD.” A behind-the-scenes video shared by production house Vyjayanthi Movies on Instagram revealed Amitabh, in his role as Ashwatthama, lifting weights, delivering powerful punches, jumping from heights, and practicing stick-fighting.
The footage also featured Prabhas as bounty hunter Bhairava honing his silambam skills with a bamboo staff, and Deepika Padukone, portraying a pregnant character, securely strapped with harness belts as she executed daring jumps.
Captioned “Behind the action of #Kalki 2898 AD with Stunt Choreographer @andy_long_nguyen,” the video captured director Nag Ashwin praising stunt choreographer Andy Long Nguyen for his meticulousness and dedication. “I saw what he had done for a different film and really liked the way he put together the stunt sequences,” Nag Ashwin noted, emphasizing Nguyen’s attention to detail and commitment to capturing precise movements.

Acknowledging the importance of safety and comfort, Nag Ashwin highlighted how the team ensured the well-being of actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas, adapting choreography to suit their capabilities without compromising the scene’s integrity.
“Kalki 2898 AD,” which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Saswata Chatterjee, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles, has been a box office success, surpassing Rs 1,000 crore globally since its release on June 27. Domestic earnings stand at Rs 580.15 crore nett, as reported by industry sources.
