Manipal:  A three-day orientation program for the incoming batch of M.Sc. Dietetics & Applied Nutrition (13th Course), Master of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (3rd Course) and M.A. Indian Cuisine and Food Culture – (2nd Course) was organized at Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), MAHE. 
The principal of the college Dr. (Chef) K. Thirugnanasambantham addressed the students and their parents on August 25 2022. Chef remarked that the students should now capitalize on the advantage of having been enrolled in some of the most sought-after programs and prepare to be career-ready upon graduation.

On August 26 2022, the Chief Guest of the orientation Lt. Gen (Dr). M.D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE was delighted to address the gathering and evoked memories of the development of MAHE, Manipal into a successful world renowned institute. Vice Chancellor also mentioned the contribution and dedication rendered by every single faculty for the phenomenal growth of MAHE. Students were advised to be responsible, diligent, proactive, determined, and imbibe good qualities to serve mankind.

Speaking at the occasion, Shilpa Joshi, Vice President of the Indian Dietetics Association spoke about the recent trends in Nutrition and Dietetics in Diabetes and the post-COVID demand for dietitians globally. She touched on the niche area of nutrition where the students can develop their skills to become successful practitioners. Invited alumni of WGSHA who were present at this event were Vinayak Chaturvedi, Resident Manager, Hotel Green Park, Bengaluru, Sonika Chaturvedi, Senior Director, Jones Lang LaSalle, Bengaluru, Amit Talwar, Director Revenue Management Advisory Services Support and Special Projects, Marriott International, Chef Sahil Desai, Executive Chef-Operations Corporate Food and Beverage, Taj hotels, and Shambhavi Kamat, Registered Dietician, Mumbai. 

The speakers recollected the contribution that WGSHA made in preparing them for their professional journey. The incoming batch of students was reminded to see problems as challenges to be overcome and critically think to come up with innovative strategies and novel solutions to address challenges in the professional sphere.

On August 27, 2022, a fun-filled rain-walk to End-Point was organized. There, a Zumba session for the students was followed by games and other activities. The walk ended with breakfast at student dining hall at WGSHA hostel.
