Mangaluru: The Community Engagement Committee of the Cultural and Community Group, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), in collaboration with “Epsilon” the Physics Department Association and the Indian Coast Guard, Karnataka, organized a Beach Cleaning Campaign on 30 Nov 2023. SJEC faculty members and students took part in the campaign.
At 7:15 a.m., the formal event began and Olivia Sequeria, Assistant Professor, Physics department greeted everyone. The Chief Guest of the event was Comdt. Munish Kumar Aggarwal, the Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Air Enclave (New Mangalore), and the Guest of Honour was Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC.
Comdt. Munish Ashok Kumar Aggarwal and Dr Rio D’Souza addressed the crowd. The Vote of Thanks by Olivia concluded the official programme. Later, SJEC students, staff, and Indian Coast Guard officers started a cleanup campaign on the beach. Twelve faculty members and 108 college students participated in the campaign. A photo session was conducted to officially conclude the beach cleanup initiative.
