Disrupt yourself with new technologies: Nagesh K P of SLK Software

Mangaluru: Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE), Moodabidri celebrated its annual day on March 30 evening, at its glittering campus.

Head of the Data Service Line and BFSI Cluster at SLK Software, Bengaluru, Nagesh K P was the chief guest of the programme. President of the Rajalaxmi Education Trust (R), Mangaluru, Rajesh Chouta presided over the function.

Addressing the students, Nageshspoke about the fast changing technology revolution that is happening in the present times. He told the students, “Disrupt yourself – else someone else will. The legacy of our knowledge of over 1,000 years is very important, and we need to utilise the same. Traditional knowledge makes sense even today.” He spoke about the futuristic technology like artificial intelligence, blockchain, robots, chatbots, and their impact on the near future. Speaking about how the new technologies will bring in a change in the job market, he said, “So, the young engineers and managers should be ready to compete with themselves and start working towards achieving innovation and creativity.” He then urged the students to look beyond academics, make an impact on society and imbibe the adaptability required to work in the industry.

Nagesh also lauded the Institute for excelling at various fronts in the national forums by winning awards in project competitions and for meeting the industries’ requirements. He asked the students to work towards achieving success and participate in all industry related activities.

In his presidential address, Chouta congratulated the University rank holders and all the academic toppers. He advised the students to look beyond academics and think creatively. He also spoke about the Institute’s vision in creating more entrepreneurs and advised the students to be innovative and have a creative mindset in order to make MITE a great place for engineering and management studies.

Principal, Dr. G L Easwara Prasad presented a brief annual report of the College for the year 2018-19. Vice principal, Dr. C R Rajshekar welcomed the gathering. Dean (T&P) Narendra U P proposed a vote of thanks. Divyashree compeered the programme.

A two-hour-long cultural programme followed the formal function. It was present by the students of MITE.
